Georgia Southern Botanical Garden
The Georgia Southern Botanical Garden is located two blocks from the University campus at 1505 Bland Avenue. The Garden gate is open to the public from 9 a.m to dusk daily. The Bland Cottage Visitor Center is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. All special programs (registration fees vary) are held in the Bland Cottage on the Garden grounds unless otherwise specified. For more information please call 871-1149.

 

Cinema Arts
The Department of Literature and Philosophy presents Cinema Arts Program, the oldest running cultural event at GSU (since 1982). All films are on selected Mondays at 7:15 p.m. in the Russell Union Auditorium. Admission is $2. Center for Art & Theatre
This unique center features numerous art galleries and a black box theatre that offers a variety of performances during the academic year.

 

Museum
The Georgia Southern Museum is located in the Rosenwald Building on Sweetheart Circle. All exhibits are free. During the academic year, Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Call 478-5444 for more information.

 

Planetarium
Georgia Southern Planetarium is located in the Math/Physics Building across Herty Drive from Hanner Fieldhouse on the Georgia Southern University campus in Statesboro, Georgia. Planetarium star shows of the current night and morning skies are shown during events, as well as telescopic observing of the real sky, weather permitting. Educational and exciting shows on astronomy and space are offered during the weekdays for all ages with a reservation. For more information, please call the physics department at 912-478-5292. Raptor Center
The Center for Wildlife Education and the Lamar Q Ball, Jr. Raptor Center are located on Forest Drive across from the Public Safety Office, and is open to the public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. On the weekends, reptile and amphibian programs are offered at 2 p.m. and flighted raptor shows are presented at 3 p.m. For more information please call 478-0831.

 

Theatre & Performance
Performances are staged in the Performing Arts Center in the Nessmith-Lane Building and in the Black Box Theatre in Comm Arts 1001. For audition information call Theatre & Performance at 478-0532. In the Black Box Theatre shows start at 8 p.m. with the exception of Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. For Performing Arts Center ticket information, prices and start times, call the Performing Arts Center Box Office at 478-7999 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 1 pm. and 2 p.m. to 5:30 pm. Patrons must pick up their reserved tickets 10 minutes before curtain or tickets may be sold to waiting patrons.

 

Music
All performances sponsored solely by the Music Department begin at 8 pm in the Carter Recital Hall of the Foy Fine Arts Building unless otherwise specified. Most events are free to the general public, GSU faculty and staff, all events are free to GSU students with valid ID. International Events
International Events are programs organized by the Center for International Studies and co-sponsored with other departments across campus. These events expose Georgia Southern University and the community to a wide variety of international and transcultural lectures, performances, museum and library exhibits, and food tastings from around the world. Performing Arts Center
The Performing Arts Center's Season features a Broadway Series, Concert Series, Dance Feature, and Special Event Family Night Out, and School Matinee Series performed by nationally and internationally renown artists. The Performing Arts Center is positioned to become a nationally recognized and exciting performing arts venue supported by artists, educators, students, audiences, volunteers, and financial donors. The 825-seat Performing Arts Center (PAC) is located on the corner of Plant Drive and Chandler Road adjacent to the Nessmith-Lane Building.
