Continuing Education Units
The College Board is approved as an authorized Continuing Education Unit (CEU) provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). IACET is an internationally recognized organization for standards and authorization for continuing education and training. Three (3) Continuing Education Units are available through IACET for participants who attend all 30 hours of the AP Summer Institute and successfully complete the scheduled activities. Certificates will be issued onsite at the conclusion of the 30 hours for all those who registered at least two weeks in advance of the start date of the program. All others will receive their certificates in the mail.

Professional Learning Units
Participants of the AP Summer Institute who hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate are eligible for three (3) PLU credit hours. Three (3) Professional Development Unit (PLU) credits are available for participants who attend all 30 hours of the AP Summer Institute and successfully complete the scheduled activities. Successful PLU candidates will receive their PLU credit forms within 2-4 weeks following the conclusion of the AP Summer Institute. These forms may be submitted to employing GA public school systems for 3 credits toward certification renewal. PLU credit is used by employees of Georgia public school systems who currently hold certificates in an approved field (certified teachers, school counselors, administrators, etc.) as credit toward RENEWING their existing certificates.

A PLU Prior Approval Form must be filled out and signed prior to the AP Summer Institute.
Bring your signed Prior Approval Form with you to the first day of class, July 14, 2008.

Background Information Regarding Prior Approval Forms for PLUs

Then see Page 3 (at the bottom of the page, item 2. d) which explains what Georgia Southern as the PLU Provider has to obtain from each participant. Georgia Southern is a "non-school system provider" which is referred to at the top of Page 4.
