2010 Outstanding Student Research Award
Submission must be received by September 10, 2010.
General Information: The Georgia Educational
Research Association is again sponsoring the Outstanding Student Research
Award in conjunction with its Annual Meeting. The graduate student submitting
the winning research paper will be recognized at the GERA Annual Meeting
to be held this year at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah, Georgia,
on October 22-23, 2010.
PLEASE NOTE: Papers submitted for the competition must also
be separately submitted for presentation at the GERA Fall, 2010, Meeting.
Eligibility: Papers considered for the competition must be submitted by
students currently enrolled in a recognized graduate degree program. Papers
submitted by recent graduates (since October 2009) will also be considered
providing that the research upon which the paper is based was completed before
graduation. Papers having more than one author will be considered; however,
each author must be a student (e.g., a faculty member may not be one of the
authors).
PLEASE NOTE: Students submitting papers must register for the Meeting. Individuals
may be first author on only one paper being considered for this award.
Criteria: Criteria for selecting a winning paper will be the same as used by reviewers of various scholarly journals publishing articles related to educational research. A wide variety of topics and research methods pertaining to educational research are appropriate for this competition. In general, any type of paper that one might consider submitting to a scholarly education research journal is appropriate. As a rule, papers generally do not exceed 30 pages (including references, tables, figures, etc.) and must follow APA style.

Submission must be received by September 10, 2010.
Include on the cover page the following statement: "Submitted
for GERA Outstanding Student Research Award." In addition to your name,
address, telephone number, and email address, please include the name, telephone
number, and institutional affiliation of your academic advisor.
