2008
Outstanding Student Research Award
Submission must be received by September 5,
2008.
General Information: The Georgia
Educational Research Association is again sponsoring the Outstanding
Student Research Award in conjunction with its Annual Meeting. The
graduate student submitting the winning research paper will be recognized
at the GERA Annual Meeting to be held this year at the Coastal Georgia
Center in Savannah, Georgia, on Friday October 24, 2008. Papers submitted
for the competition must also be separately submitted for presentation
at the GERA Fall, 2008, Meeting.
Eligibility: Papers considered
for the competition must be submitted by students currently enrolled
in a recognized graduate degree program. Papers submitted by recent
graduates (since October 2005) will also be considered providing
that the research upon which the paper is based was completed before
graduation. Papers having more than one author will be considered;
however, each author must be a student (e.g., a faculty member may
not be one of the authors). Students submitting papers must register
for the Meeting. Individuals may be first author on only one paper
being considered for this award.
Criteria: Criteria for selecting
a winning paper will be the same as used by reviewers of various
scholarly journals publishing articles related to educational research.
A wide variety of topics and research methods pertaining to educational
research are appropriate for this competition. In general, any type
of paper that one might consider submitting to a scholarly education
research journal is appropriate. As a rule, papers generally do not
exceed 30 pages (including references, tables, figures, etc.) and
must follow APA style.
