Successful Grant Writing
There's a whole lot more to being an effective grant writer than getting "the right words" on paper! Learn the secrets and steps to successfully secure grant funding for your special project. This class provides a solid overview of the grantsmanship process: finding funders, developing relationships with these funders, writing an effective proposal and managing grants funding. You'll also learn trends in grant making and how grants fit into an overall fundraising strategy. Additionally, you will receive one-on-one feedback of your own personal proposal writing and research effort.
Topics include:
- How to identify funders and how they make funding decisions
- The difference between types of funders, and the methods of developing relationships
- The information required in an effective written proposal, and the various stylistic and formatting differences
- Requirements after receiving a grant reward
Advanced Grant Writing
Work with other seasoned professionals to fine tune your grant writing skills. This class will provide the opportunity for participants to work alone and in small groups to hone written presentation skills. Particular emphasis will be placed on: Writing outcome-based goals and objectives, as well as a meaningful evaluation component to a project; Researching and presenting an effective statement of need, as well as good demographic, psychographic and geographic information; Prioritizing information for written presentation. This class is designed for those with some experience in grant writing, but does not require a high level of competency. Participants are encouraged to bring draft documents to the class for work, review and tips on how to make a proposal shine!
