Practical Horticulture for Homeowners Series

This is a short course designed specifically for homeowners and interested gardeners regarding useful information on how to select, plant, prune, fertilize and care for trees, shrubs, and lawns.

° Times: 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (Sessions 1 - 4)
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Session 5)
Location: Nessmith-Lane Building, Statesboro, GA (Session 1 - 4)
Please note: Session five will meet in the lobby at the Nessmith-Lane Building and drive to location close to campus.
Cost: $25 per person each individual session
$50 per person $75 per couple for complete series

Session One • Pruning Shrubs and Trees – Tools and Techniques
Shrubs, trees, and ground cover all need to be pruned correctly, so get your tips and techniques in this session.

Session Two • Planting Trees and Shrubs
Give your new plants a good start: learn how to fertilize their trees, lawns, and shrubs.

Session Three • Insects Affecting Ornamental Plants
Find out how to control insects and diseases that may be affecting your ornamental plants.
Date: Tuesday, 3/9/2010

Session Four • Landscape Design
Walk your way through the basic steps and principles of landscaping your home.
Date: Tuesday, 3/16/2010

Session Five • Container Gardening
The last session will cover the basic concepts of container gardening such as: limited space, patio, balconies and entry ways. Suggestions for container gardening will be discussed. This session will meet in the lobby at the Nessmith-Lane Building and drive to a location close to campus.
