John BrownDr. Brown was born in Ohio in 1952. He received his primary and secondary education in public schools. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Akron and his Ph.D. in Economics from Michigan State University in 1989. He has taught at the University of Akron, Albion College, Michigan State University, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is currently an Associate Professor in Economic Development at Georgia Southern University

Dr. Brown is an active researcher with more than a dozen professional publications. He is currently writing a book on the intellectual history of the economic discipline of Industrial Organization. His academic specialties include the study of the economics of regulation, transportation economics, particularly air transport, industrial competition, the historical development of industry, and the interaction of law and economic behavior. He has presented numerous papers at professional meetings, including the 3rd World Cliometrics Congress in 1997 at Munich, Germany and the meetings of the American Law and Economics Association in 1999 at Yale University.

Dr. Brown is a member of many professional organizations including, the American Economics Association, the American Law and Economics Association, the Cliometric Society, the Industrial Organization Society, TPUG, Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Economics Honorary Society, and Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Business Honorary Society. He serves as Secretary General of the Transportation and Public Utilities Group (TPUG) and is a member of the editorial board of the Review of Industrial Organization.

Dr. Brown is married with one grown son. He and his wife, Jo Ellen, reside in Statesboro, GA where they enjoy collecting antique oak furniture, antiquarian books and maps, spoiling their grandson, and golfing.
