Mental Health Care and Ethical Dilemmas in Rural Communities > details
Presenter: Jackson Rainer, Ph.D

Goal for day

Mental health professionals in rural areas face the problems of having fewer training opportunities, fewer colleagues with whom to consult, and more diverse demands placed upon them than do their urban counterparts. The concerns with quality, access, and understanding of mental health care in rural areas become clear when considering contemporary research. Many of the behavioral concerns affecting the rural community are amenable to proven prevention and treatment strategies that are best provided by highly training professionals. These two workshops are designed to address the training and community needs of practitioners in rural communities.

Both workshops qualify for biannual continuing education requirements for licensed Georgia psychologists under Area III, Workshops and Institutes. 3.0 CEU hours will be granted for the ethics workshop and 3.0 CEU hours will be granted for the clinical psychopharmacology workshop.
