This 40-hour course was uniquely developed by a Georgia Southern University professor for professionals who want to learn a practical overview of Six Sigma quality applications in a reasonable time frame. Since there is no standard Six Sigma certification organization, a range of firms and organizations have developed certification programs.
Through Georgia Southern's four-week online course, instructor Dr. Anoop Desai introduces basic concepts of quality control and six sigma principles to ensure quality and strive to achieve zero defects in all products and processes.
Learning outcomes/objectives:
1. Construct and comprehend Quality control charts
2. Estimate process capability
3. Use various Six Sigma tools such as QFD, Ishikawa
analysis and Pareto analysis
4. Construct a detailed Six Sigma plan for product quality
Intended Audience: Middle and upper management in a range of industries. Engineers and non-engineers welcome. Participants may be quality control/assurance personnel, product managers, managers in manufacturing firms, etc.
Length of Course: Selective release of each module upon completion of previous quiz. The course can be completed in as few as two weeks, but it will remain open to those who need extra time for up to 4 weeks, closing March 10.
How to Pass: Assessment-based. Proficiency at 80% of quiz must be achieved for each of the 8 modules. Proficiency in each module must be proved before the next module is released. Proficiency at 80% of final exam is required to pass the course.
