The Sport Management Conference hosted by the Department of Hospitality, Tourism, and Family & Consumer Sciences at Georgia Southern is a must-attend recruiting event for our agency every year. The students that attend the conference are both focused and enthusiastic when it comes to learning about the sports industry and potential career opportunities. Why do we attend? The conference provides us with the chance to become acquainted with the brightest rising stars that want to work hard and prove themselves in our industry. We’ve experienced success each and every year as we’ve recruited both interns and entry-level employees that have gone on to become valuable members of our agency. It’s important to note that the students we have recruited hailed from a variety of states, not just Georgia or the Southeast. The conference attracts the best students from throughout the country that are dedicated to finding challenging sport-related careers. We consider ourselves fortunate to be part of such a highly regarded event!

Results speak for themselves. I was able to invite more than 15 students to the NBA/WNBA/D-League Teams Job Fair in Los Angeles, CA. These students would all be great candidates for our teams. I was impressed with the level of candidates I interviewed. Students were engaging, professional and prepared. While the presentations were to be a learning experience for students, I frequently found myself taking notes. All in all a success. I was able to interview some great candidates, connect with professors and even manage to learn something along the way!
