Instructors

All of our instructors have advanced degrees and training in the area of management, communications, and the law. Each has extensive experience in management and supervision training for adult audiences.

TREY DENTON
Trey Denton joined the faculty of Georgia Southern University in 1992 and currently holds the rank of Professor of Marketing. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from Emory University, his M.B.A. from Emory University, and his Ph.D.in Marketing from the University of Georgia. He lived and taught in Hong Kong from 1989-1991 as he worked on his dissertation concerning marketing of U.S. products in China. Since joining Georgia Southern in 1992, he has received both College of Business and Georgia Southern University Awards for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Denton has conducted corporate training, marketing, and strategic planning sessions for many companies and organizations including Sea Island Bank, BSC-America, Georgia Pacific, Willingway Hospital, the Chatham County Public Health Department, Eagle Bank, Carson Products, JCB, Robbins Smokehouse, Frederica Academy, the Averett Center for the Arts, and Leadership Southeast Georgia. He recently served as the Chair of the GSU Strategic Planning Council, the group charged with creating and guiding the strategic planning processes of Georgia Southern University.

RUSSELL KENT
Russell Kent is a Professor in the College of Business Administration at Georgia Southern University, where he specializes in teaching a range of Management topics. A graduate of Florida State University (BS and PhD), Dr. Kent earned his MBA at the University of South Alabama. He has been active with groups such as the Coastal Conservation Association of Georgia. His numerous contributions to scholarly journals include a number to the Southern Economic Developer.

Dr. Kent has taught continuing education topics for regional business leaders and supervisors for many years through Georgia Southern University.

CONSTANCE CAMPBELL
Constance Campbell joined the College of Business Administration in 1992. Her university service includes chairing search committees, university's undergraduate curriculum committee, graduate curriculum and programs committee. Her contribution to the management area has been extensive with creating an instructor's manual, a practitioner publication, various proceedings and journal articles and service on the board of directors of the Southern Management Association.

A regular instructor for Continuing Education seminars on a range of business topics, her academic career is most noted for innovations in the classroom by using a variety of delivery formats.

STEPHANIE SIPE
Stephanie R. Sipe is an associate professor of legal studies at Georgia Southern University. She received her Bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University, her law degree from University of Georgia, and a Master's Degree in Adult Human Resource Development from James Madison University. She practiced law in Virginia before transitioning to academia. As an attorney, Dr. Sipe developed an expertise in employment law and litigation. She advised business clients on employment policies and practices, and represented the interests of both employees and employers in state and federal court. Her case of O'Brien v. Kluge, which received national press attention, was a case of first impression in the federal courts on a particular issue under the Fair Labor Standards Act concerning the executive exemption to overtime.

Ms. Sipe taught at James Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University, before coming to Georgia Southern University in 2005. She has given numerous seminars on topics such as Legal Aspects of Employee Management, Sexual Harassment, and the Family and Medical Leave Act, and currently is researching and writing on topics such as management education and students perceptions of gender issues in the workplace. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the Southeastern Academy of Legal Studies Education, Allied Academies, and the Association for Business Simulation and Experiential Learning.

DAVID SHEPHERD
David Shepherd serves as Professor of Marketing in the Department of Management, Marketing, and Logistics at Georgia Southern University. He received his Ph. D. in Marketing at the University of Tennessee. Before beginning his academic career, Dr. Shepherd worked in sales and sales management positions in the information technology industry. Dr. Shepherd's primary research areas are personal selling and sales management and health care marketing. HE currently serves on the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, and Marketing Health Services. He also currently serves as Proceedings Editor and on the Board of Directors of the National Conference in Sales Management.

Dr. Shepherd has been active in numerous leadership roles in the American Marketing Association's Sales Special Interest Group, including Program Chair and Communication Chair. Dr. Shepherd has provided consulting and research for a wide range of organizations including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Erlanger Health System, UT Medical Center, and ddN Advertising.

JACKIE EASTMAN
Jacqueline K. Eastman is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Georgia Southern University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (with a marketing major) from the Ohio State University and her Ph.D. in Marketing, from the Florida State University. Prior to coming to Georgia Southern University in 2007, she was taught at Valdosta State University. She also served as that campus's MBA Director from 1995 to 2000.

She has published three dozen journal articles in journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Marketing Education, and Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice among others. Her research interests are in scale development, ethics, Internet strategy, and web-based teaching. She has also served as the Vice President for Programs and President for the Association of Marketing Theory and Practice. She is currently on the Editorial Review Boards for the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and Marketing Education Review. Dr. Eastman has taught Marketing on the undergraduate and MBA level and is currently teaching online in the Georgia WebMBA program.
