Georgia Southern University's Performing Arts Center will celebrate its 10th season with a mix of entertainment that includes Broadway classics, a country music favorite, a world-renowned composer, and musical political satire.
The 2011-2012 Performing Arts Center season begins and ends with Broadway. The show 100 Years of Broadway kicks off the season on Sept. 9 and the classic South Pacific will close the season in April. In between, audiences will be treated to the musical political satire of Capitol Steps, the nostalgia of Forever Motown, and stunning vocal performances by the American Boychoir and Women of Ireland.
Country and bluegrass artist Kathy Mattea will perform Nov. 19. She has 16 Top Ten singles to her credit that include the number one hits "Goin' Gone," "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses," "Come From the Heart," and "Burnin' Old Memories."
On Jan. 22, 2012, award winning composer Marvin Hamlisch will take the stage. Marvin Hamlisch is one of only two people in history to win an Oscar, a Tony, an Emmy, a Grammy and a Pulitzer Prize. His talent is unmatched. He has written some of the most beloved music of our time from the score to The Way We Were to A Chorus Line. The chance to see this music legend on stage is not to be missed.
