The Grand Opening of the Wetlands Preserve

You are cordially invited to join us as we celebrate the grand opening of our new Wetlands Preserve! Join us for an afternoon of festivities on Saturday, April 25th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event is free of charge and open to the public. Experience our new additions in the twelve-acre expansion including a wetland preserve with wading birds, duck pond, outdoor classroom and scenic walking paths.  

Grand Opening events include Behind the Scene tours at 3:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., an Outdoor Classroom Wildlife Program at 5:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., and a lecture and tour of the new indoor Frog Exhibit hosted by John Jensen at 4:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. A Wetland Preserve Tour and Feed the Ducks activity at the waterfowl pond will take place at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Other activities include crafts, scavenger hunts, geocaching and wetland conservation experiments in the new Outdoor Classroom.

Weekend Programs

Closed on weekends during the months of June, July & August

The Center for Wildlife Education is open to the public on Saturday's from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.  A reptile program is held on each Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall and a flighted raptor program is held at 3:00 p.m. in the Amphitheater.

Summer Weekday Programs

During the months of June, July & August, an hour-long wildlife program featuring

birds of prey & reptiles will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday

in the Center's Lecture Hall. 

The cost for the program is $3 per person, and children ages 3 & under are admitted free.

 Campout Adventures

The Center for Wildlife Education is pleased to offer overnight camping in conjunction with programs suited for scouting and youth groups, educator training workshops, environmental groups, science camps, church groups, families, and more. The campground is available by reservation year round.

The campground features:

  • 20 individually marked camp sites (Capacity: minimum 10 campers and maximum of 80 campers).

  • Multiple fire locations.

  • Restroom facilities for men and women (no showers).

  • Campsite is gated for added security.

  • Campground is located in a mixed forest.

  • Tent rentals available upon request.

  • Wildlife and ecology education programs available upon request.

Group Campout adventures (includes tents, sites for up to 80 people, 7:30 p.m. wildlife encounter program & snack):

  • $20 non-refundable deposit

  • $80 for up to 40 people ($3.50 for each additional person)

Family Campout adventures (includes tents, dinner & breakfast, night snack, firewood for pavilion camp ring, and a 7:30 p.m. wildlife encounter program):

  • $10 non-refundable deposit

  • $40 for a family of 4 ($3.50 for each additional person)
